BHIC appoints retired Admiral as director

KUALA LUMPUR (Aug 29): Boustead Heavy Industries Corp Bhd (BHIC) has appointed Vice Admiral (Retired) Datuk Syed Zahiruddin Putra Syed Osman as independent and non-executive director.

In a statement today, BHIC said the appointment took effect from Aug 21, 2019.

BHIC appointed six new directors to its board in July 2019.

It said Syed Zahiruddin joined the Royal Malaysian Navy in September 1977 and was trained as a Midshipman at Britannia Royal Naval College, Dartmouth, United Kingdom in 1978.

He commissioned as Sub-Lieutenant on Dec 31, 1979, while his last post with the Malaysian Armed Forces was the Joint Force Commander before officially retiring on July 27, 2019.

BHIC said during his career in the navy, Syed Zahiruddin honed his skills in human resource management, training, operations, as well as strategic planning and development.

The group said he holds a Masters in Human Resource Management from University of New South Wales, Australia and a Diploma in Executive Business Management from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia.

BHIC chairman Tan Sri Seri Ahmad Ramli Mohd Nor said the board of directors and senior management team look forward to benefitting from Syed Zahiruddin's vast experience as the group navigates through its next chapter of growth.
