KUALA LUMPUR (Nov 5): The FBM KLCI shed 0.19% at the midday break today, as losses including at Tenaga Nasional Bhd, Press Metal Aluminium Holdings Bhd and Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB) weighed.

At 12.30pm, the FBM KLCI shed 3.12 points to 1,600.44.

Losers led gainers by 318 to 236, while 520 counters traded unchanged. Volume was 1.46 billion shares valued at RM921 million.

The top losers included Nestle (M) Bhd, British American Tobacco (M) Bhd, Press Metal, Apollo Food Holdings Bhd, MAHB, Tenaga, MISC Bhd, Latitude Tree Holdings Bhd and Cycle & Carriage Bintang Bhd.

The actives included IFCA MSC Bhd, Eduspec Holdings Bhd, Sapura Energy Bhd, Velesto Energy Bhd and Mudajaya Group Bhd.

The gainers included Kuala Lumpur Kepong Bhd, Hong Leong Industries Bhd, Southern Acids (M) Bhd, Serba Dinamik Holdings Bhd, IJM Plantations Bhd, Mega First Corp Bhd, Aeon Credit Service (M) Bhd and Mesiniaga Bhd.

Asian shares approached their July peak on Tuesday on signs the United States and China are inching closer to a truce in their trade war and on optimism the US economy is poised for solid, consumer-driven growth, according to Reuters.

MSCI's broadest index of Asia-Pacific shares outside Japan ticked up 0.1% after hitting a four-month high the previous day, it said.

Affin Hwang Capital Research said the FBM KLCI Index rebounded strongly in yesterday's session, gaining 10.22 points or 0.64%, closing at 1,603.56.

It said the index broke above the 1,600 key psychological level yesterday after trading below it for the past two months.

"The current technical rebound is still in progress, as indicated by selected indicators on the daily chart showing that bullish momentum remains strong.

"Anticipate the index to retest the 1,615 level in the near term. Technical relief rebound in progress," it said.
