KUALA LUMPUR (Nov 27): Prestariang Bhd said its independent and non-executive chairman Datuk Maznah Abdul Jalil, 66, has retired, after just 10 months since her appointment.

Maznah's retirement was announced to the stock exchange today. Meanwhile, the group's senior independent non-executive director Chan Wan Siew, 68, has been appointed the interim chairman.

On Jan 31, Maznah was redesignated the group’s new non-executive chairman from her previous role as senior independent non-executive director.

She replaced Datuk Mohamed Yunus Ramli Abbas, 70, who has resigned from the group, “as he intends to focus on his long overdue time for himself and family”.

Shares of Prestariang slipped half a sen to close at 44.5 sen today, for a market capitalisation of RM214.62 million.

Its president-cum-group chief executive officer Dr Abu Hasan Ismail told reporters today that Prestariang is ready to put the termination of its RM3.5 billion National Immigration Control System (SKIN) project by the Government behind it and focus on rebooting its operations to become profitable again.
