KUALA LUMPUR (Jan 2): Based on corporate announcements and news flow today, the following stocks might be in focus tomorrow (Friday, Jan 3): DBE Gurney Resources Bhd, Gamuda Bhd, Kerjaya Prospek Group Bhd, Metronic Global Bhd, Puncak Niaga Holdings Bhd, Rohas Tecnic Bhd and Tambun Indah Land Bhd.

DBE Gurney Resources Bhd’s managing director (MD) Datuk Ding Seng Huat has resigned so that he can focus on the poultry business. Meanwhile executive director Datuk Doh Jee Ming has been redesignated yesterday as DBE Gurney’s MD.

Gamuda Bhd’s 70:30 JV with Dong-Pi Construction Co Ltd has bagged an RM932.5 million contract for a seawall and dike project in Taiwan. The contract is to last 60 months from January to January 2025. The JV is to construct a 4,014-metre long seawall for a reclamation project in the logistics storage area of Taipei port and dismantle 945 metres of existing seawall structures. The firm will also conduct Southport shore protection works.

Kerjaya Prospek Group Bhd is buying two plots of adjoining land measuring 4.31 ha in Rawang from executive chairman and major shareholder Datuk Tee Eng ho and his brother executive for RM10.-1 million. The land was valued to be worth RM10 million by an independent valuer. The group had been renting the plot for RM15,000 a month for two years from a company owned by the Tee brothers, before being extended to a monthly rental charge of RM16,500. The acquisition will save the group RM198,000 a year.

Metronic Global Bhd has been served with a suit by its single largest shareholder Tan Sri Lee Kim Yew. The suit was served via a counterclaim by Lee – who is seeking a declaration that the affairs of the group are done in a manner that is oppressive to him. Lee is also seeking a like declaration pertaining to the powers of the directors that are being exercised. Lee is also petitioning for the allotment and the issuance of executives’ share option scheme (ESOS) in June 2019 and a private placement in October to be declared void.

Puncak Niaga Holdings Bhd is filing a judicial review application against the Royal Malaysian Customs Department’s demand for goods and services tax payments amounting to RM5.27 million. On Dec 19, 2019, Customs had issued two bills of demand to its wholly-owned unit Puncak Niaga Management Sdn Bhd (PNMSSB) for the period Feb 1,2016 to Dec 31, 2017 – amounting to RM5.27 million.

Rohas Tecnic Bhd’s largest shareholder and chairman Tan Sri Wan Azmi Wan Hamzah has resigned on account of personal reasons. His son Wan Afzal-Aris Wan Azmi also ceased to be alternate director following his father’s resignation that took effect yesterday. Deputy chairman Sia Bun Chun had been made the group’s new non-independent and non-executive chairman.  Wan Azmi still is still Rohas Technic’s largest shareholder – controlling a 42.96% stake, of which 13.94% is held directly by the tycoon.

Tambun Indah Land Bhd founder and managing director Teh Kiak Seng,70, has been redesignated as executive deputy chairman, with his son Teh Deng Wei taking over his father’s role as MD. Deng Wei’s aunt and Kiak Seng’s sister Teh Theng Theng is also an executive director.
