KUALA LUMPUR: Bursa Malaysia slid early Monday as investors in Asia were rattled by the rising tensions in the Middle East following the US killing of a top Iranian military commander and an Iraqi militia leader.
At 9.15am, the FBM KLCI fell 14.24 points or 0.88% to 1,597.14. Turnover was 399.68 million shares valued at RM160.45mil. Decliners beat advancers more than two to one or 318 losers to 135 gainers and 249 counters unchanged.
Reuters reported gold surged to its highest in almost seven years while oil flirted with four-month peaks.
The United States detected a heightened state of alert by Iran's missile forces, as President Donald Trump warned the US would strike back,"perhaps in a disproportionate manner," if Iran attacked any American person or target, according to the wire report.
