KLCI chalks up small gains, tracks regional markets

KUALA LUMPUR: Blue chips chalked up small gains, with Tenaga Nasional among the gainers early Friday, as market sentiment perked up following the record overnight close on Wall Street.

At 9.03am, the KLCI was up 1.36 points or 0.09% to 1,589.24. Turnover was 107.38 million shares valued at RM37.71mil.

At Bursa on Friday, foreign funds remained net buyers at RM57.7mil and retail investors joined in with net buying of RM19.9mil while local institutions were net sellers at RM77.7mil.

In early trade before Chinese markets opened, MSCI's broadest index of Asia-Pacific shares outside Japan was up 0.19%, taking gains for the month to 3.4%, Reuters reported.
