KUALA LUMPUR (March 9): Star Media Group Bhd has announced the appointment of Au Chen Sum as its chief financial officer (CFO), replacing Ragesh Rajendran, who resigned from the post effective March 1.

Au was formerly attached to Hong Kong-listed Parkson Retail Group Ltd for eight years, during which he assisted the chief executive officer, executive chairman and the board in executing strategic business decisions and contributed to the group’s transformation programme.

His last position with Parkson was as CFO from May 2013 to December 2018.

Prior to joining Star Media, he was the CFO of Singer (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd.

He started his career as an audit associate with PricewaterhouseCoopers in 2003, before moving to Ernst & Young, Beijing, China in 2006. He was promoted to audit manager in 2008.

In July last year, the group appointed prominent advertising industry veteran Andreas Vogiatzakis as its chief executive officer, following the resignation of Datuk Seri Wong Chun Wai in January 2019.

At the midday break, Star Media shares were two sen or 5.41% lower at 35 sen, giving the group a market capitalisation of RM258.26 million.
