KUALA LUMPUR (March 23): Two employees at CIMB Group Holdings Bhd have tested positive for Covid-19, the bank said in a statement today.

The two employees, based at the bank’s Jalan Dato’ Bandar Tunggal branch in Seremban, Negri Sembilan, had recently gone for a personal trip to Indonesia and been in home quarantine since March 19 on their return to Malaysia, CIMB said. They are currently being treated at a government hospital.

As a precaution, a thorough sanitisation and deep cleaning of the branch is being carried out, and the branch will be closed temporarily to facilitate this, it added.

“All those in direct contact with the affected employees have also been placed under home quarantine until given the appropriate medical clearance. Contact tracing to identify all others with direct contact with the employees, is also being conducted,” said CIMB.

CIMB further encouraged customers of this branch to use its online services. Should they need to visit a branch, they are advised to proceed to the nearest branches in town located at Seremban 2 and Senawang.

“CIMB has business continuity plans in place for both Head Office and branches to ensure continuation of essential services. The group had earlier implemented several precautionary measures to ensure the well-being of customers and staff, which include a mandatory travel declaration policy, hygiene and social distancing measures at both Head Office and branches,” it said.

CIMB added that it is monitoring the situation closely and that further updates will be provided as necessary.

Health Ministry director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said that 123 new infections were reported yesterday, bringing the total Covid-19 cases in Malaysia to 1,306. Two more deaths were also reported, pushing the death tally to 10.
