KUALA LUMPUR: Blue chips retreated early Friday on Bursa Malaysia as investors took profit as worries about the rising US-China trade tensions gnawed on their confidence.
At 9.24am, the FBM KLCI was down 4.38 points or 0.3% to 1,446.73. Turnover was 835.72 million shares valued at RM504.69mil. There were 228 gainers, 340 losers and 294 counters unchanged.
Bloomberg said Asian stocks saw a muted open as rising tension between the US and China added to concern about the pace of economic recovery from the coronavirus pandemic. US futures edged higher.
Stocks were little changed in Tokyo, while shares dipped in Seoul and rose Sydney.
