Hengyuan says a crude tank in its Port Dickson refinery caught fire today

KUALA LUMPUR (May 22): Hengyuan Refining Company Bhd said a crude tank in its refinery in Port Dickson caught fire at around 4.20pm today.

“The damage sustained from the fire incident is restricted to one crude tank area. Other sections of the refinery and office building were not affected. Preliminary (investigations indicated) the fire was (caused by) lightning strike," Hengyuan said in a stock exchange filing.

"The financial impact has yet to be fully ascertained. The company is looking into ascertaining the actual extent and damages arising from the fire with relevant parties,” it said, adding announcements will be made if there are further developments.

Hengyuan shares closed 6.11% or 24 sen lower at RM3.69 today, valuing it at some RM1.11 billion.
