KUALA LUMPUR: Bursa Malaysia chalked up gains in early Thursday trade, underpinned by buying of glove makers, Petronas Gas and also Hong Leong Bank but cautious Asian markets could prompt some profit taking later.
At 9.07am, the KLCI was up 6.8 points or 0.43% to 1,582.07. Turnover was 866.86 million shares valued at RM283.97mil. There were 314 gainers, 133 losers and 274 counters unchanged.
Retail investors have shown more confidence in the rally in recent weeks, driven by glove makers due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Local institutions turned net sellers on Wednesday at RM67.8mil but local retail investors showed their confidence with net buying at RM66.3mil. Foreign funds were seen nibbling and were net buyers at RM1.4mil.
