BIG glove producers are under pressure, not only to meet investors’ soaring expectations of fat profit growth, but also to comply with international best practices, as attention turned to their extensive use of foreign labour to manufacture the protective gear.
On Tuesday, the Human Resources Ministry said that Top Glove Corp Bhd was found to have breached the standard operating procedure under the recovery movement control order, following an investigation on July 13.
The company was issued with a compound after it was discovered that its employees were not practising social distancing and workers were living in a crowded environment.
However, no offences involving forced labour elements were detected, the ministry said.
