Court grants Tan Chong interim stay

PETALING JAYA: Tan Chong Motor Holdings Bhd said the Shah Alam High Court has granted an interim stay of the RM180.11mil excise duty claim from the Customs Department until Sept 3,2020.

Hearing has been fixed on Nov 25,2020, it said in a filing with Bursa Malaysia. The interim stay, which covers all further related proceedings including the enforcement of excise duty claim, is renewable on its expiry, Tan Chong said.

Subsidiary Tan Chong Motor Assemblies Sdn Bhd received the excise duty claim from the Customs Department on May 22,2020 in respect of period from Nov 1,2016 to Oct 31,2019.
