KLCI up, powered by Top Glove, Tenaga

KUALA LUMPUR (Sept 18): Bursa Malaysia remained higher at mid-morning in sync with regional equities markets.

At 11am, the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) rose 8.81 points to 1,521.88, powered mainly by Top Glove and Tenaga Nasional.

The index opened 1.29 points lower at 1,511,78 from Thursday's close of 1,513.07.

Gainers thumped losers 558 to 295, while 374 counters were unchanged, 858 untraded and 41 others suspended.

Total volume stood at 2.64 billion units worth RM1.62 billion.

Among the heavyweights, Top Glove continued to recover from yesterday's pressure, increasing 18 sen to RM7.97, while Hartalega was 12 sen firmer at RM14.22.

The overall healthcare index rebounded from the previous session’s losses, with related stocks dominating the top gainers list.

Among them, Careplus was 18 sen firmer at RM2.95 and Comfort Gloves added 11 sen to RM3.76.

TNB was eight sen stronger at RM11.12 and IHH rose four sen to RM5.38.

Of the actives, CME went up half-a-sen to 12 sen, MCT rose three sen to 22 sen, while Kanger was half-a-sen lower at 29.5 sen.

On the index board, the FBM Emas Index rose 55.45 points to 10,914.14 and the FBM Emas Shariah Index expanded 96.77 points to 12,886.30.

The FBM 70 gained 30.37 points to 14,019.69, the FBMT 100 Index was 52.43 points higher at 10,730.05 and the FBM ACE leaped 61.78 points to 11,208.20.

Sector-wise, the Financial Services Index’s losses narrowed, decreasing 11.09 points to 12,723.76, the Plantation Index inched up 65.44 points to 7,163.14, while the Industrial Products and Services Index increased 0.73 points to 136.64.
