KUALA LUMPUR: Bursa Malaysia got off the starting block on a firm note eary Friday, with Hartalega and Top Glove giving the FBM KLCI the much needed boost.
At 9.14am, the KLCI was up 11.05 points or 0.74% to 1,511.85. Turnover was 546.09 million shares valued at RM468.23mil. The broader market was firm with 344 gainers to 125 losers and 274 counters unchanged.
Key Asian markets also traded higher, taking their cue from Wall Street. Australia's S&P/ASX 200 futures rose 0.12% and Japan's Nikkei 225 futures added 0.13%. Hong Kong's Hang Seng index futures rose 0.45%. MSCI's gauge of stocks across the globe shed 0.43%, according to Reuters.
At Bursa on Thursday, local retail investors turned net sellers at RM111.1mil while local institutions were net buyers at RM68.9mil and foreign funds at RM42.2mil.
