A LEADING engineering consultant is expecting the government to start rolling out infrastructure project in the upcoming Budget 2021 “to start moving the economy within the next six months”.
HSS Engineers Bhd executive vice-chairman and co-founder Tan Sri Kuna Sittampalam (pic) says he does not expect the uncertainties due to the new wave of Covid-19 infections to stop the government from looking at major infrastructure jobs.
Aside from domestic driven projects, Kuna also envisaged Sarawak to be a major beneficiary from Indonesia’s decision to build its new capital city in Kalimantan. The project to move the capital from Jakarta to a city near Samarinda and Balikpapan is touted at US$60bil and is easily one of the largest infrastructure jobs in the region. Half of the funding is coming from agencies in Japan.
