JOHOR BAHRU (Nov 9): The Rapid Transit System (RTS) station project in Bukit Chagar, here, which connects Johor Bahru and Woodlands, Singapore, will be launched virtually on Nov 22.

The launch is to be held in conjunction with the birthday of the Sultan of Johor, Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar.

This was announced in a posting on the Ruler's Facebook page today, with some pictures of Mass Rapid Transit Corporation Sdn Bhd (MRT Corp) chief executive officer Datuk Mohd Zarif Hashim paying the Sultan a courtesy call at the Mados Office, Istana Bukit Pelangi, here, today.

At the meeting, Mohd Zarif briefed Sultan Ibrahim on the development of the project, following its inclusion in the 2021 Budget, which was tabled recently.

Among the things discussed were the launch of the RTS station, which would be done online, as well as the draft of the station’s design. Work is expected to commence on the site around the end of November after the launch.

Sultan Ibrahim also consented to MRT Corp organising a competition to obtain input and ideas for the station’s building facade.

Also present at the meeting were Johor Land and Mines director Datuk Mohammed Ridha Abd Kadir and Johor Bahru Mayor Datuk Adib Azhari Daud.
