KUALA LUMPUR (Nov 9): Opcom Holdings Bhd’s co-founder Eric Chhoa Kwang Hua (pictured) has resigned as the company’s executive director, citing personal reasons.

According to the fibre optic cable manufacturer's Bursa Malaysia filing, the 56-year-old's resignation took effect on Nov 6 (Friday).

In August last year, Opcom announced that Chhoa would be on sabbatical leave from Sept 7, 2019 to Dec 31, 2020. It said Chhoa’s absence presents an opportunity for the company to put its decade-long leadership succession plan into action.

Incorporated in 1994, Opcom was co-founded by Chhoa and Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir, son of former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.

Opcom’s share price closed two sen or 5.41% lower at 35 sen today, valuing the company at RM56.44 million. Some 423,800 shares were done.

Year-to-date, the stock has fallen by 49.27%.
