KUALA LUMPUR (Nov 13): Sasbadi, Huawei and TM One have joined forces to provide an e-learning platform to help students, especially Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) candidates, catch up on their studies and do well in their examinations.

Sasbadi Holdings Berhad Group managing director Law King Hui said all 2020 SPM candidates could use the self-directed learning portal, i-LEARN Ace, for free as the company seeks to support them in their revision during these tough times due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Sasbadi has teamed up with Huawei, the technology enabler, and TM ONE, the cloud service provider of this CSR initiative, to provide cutting edge cloud technology to ensure a seamless and uninterrupted experience for some 500,000 or so SPM students on i-LEARN Ace.

“When Tutor2U is launched in December 2020, SPM and all other students in Malaysia will be able to receive on-demand, subsidised e-tuition services from teachers across the country, as well as subscribe to an array of learning resources and videos prepared by teachers,” he said in an e-mail interview with Bernama recently.

Huawei Malaysia vice-president of Cloud and AI Lim Chee Siong said that through this initiative, the tech company was also helping the education industry expedite its digital transformation.

“Huawei has the technical know-how, with our innovative and intelligent learning solutions, to support students in both urban and rural areas. The rural communities, who face challenges in terms of Internet connectivity and the lack of devices, will benefit from these solutions.

“In joining hands with Sasbadi, who has deep domain knowledge in producing educational content, and together with Huawei’s technological expertise, we have the joint capabilities to provide ubiquitous education to all and to ensure that no one gets left behind,” he said.

Lim also applauded the government for recognising the need to improve Internet connectivity and the availability of devices for students in the recently announced Budget 2021.

Meanwhile, TM ONE general manager, Data Centre, Cloud and Internet, Mohamad Rejab Sulaiman said that since the pandemic posed significant challenges to all levels of education due to school closure, cloud-based solutions had a crucial role to play in digital learning.

“Through this initiative with Sasbadi and Huawei, TM ONE will empower Sasbadi’s greater penetration into digital education as the cloud service provider and Huawei as the technology enabler.

“In the long term, as we return to the recovery phase, we are ultimately building a more equitable educational environment — making sure students have everything they need to succeed beyond normal traditional classroom environment,” he said.

This year’s SPM candidates will be able to register for an account that will grant them full access to the i-LEARN Ace SPM account beginning from the end of this month until the end of the examinations.

Sasbadi’s e-tuition platform, Tutor2U, will enable students to book and attend classes through the platform, as well as subscribe to learning resources which may be subsidised by Sasbadi and its partners for the benefit of students.
