KUCHING (Nov 15): Bintulu Member of Parliament Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing (pictured) has apologised to Director-General of Health Tan Sri Noor Hisham Abdullah over his controversial statement which he made when debating the Supply Bill 2021 at the Dewan Rakyat recently.

"To ensure the Dewan Rakyat proceedings run smoothly and in the interest of peace and harmony in the country, I apologise if I have overstepped the mark during the 2021 Budget debate," he said in a statement today.

He said it was not his intention to deny the noble sacrifices of all doctors, nurses, frontliners including the Health Director-General.

"I only wanted to debate on problems in tackling Covid-19 which is a serious public health concern, so that necessary actions are taken and implemented more effectively.

“I don’t want the Dewan Rakyat proceedings to be disrupted because of me, ” he added.

Tiong was heavily criticised following his speech on Wednesday (Nov 11), when he questioned why the Health Director-General Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah did not go to the ground to see for himself the state’s dire situation, following the Covid-19 outbreak there.
