Taliworks shares, warrants rise on news of RM4b Rasau water treatment tenders next year

KUALA LUMPUR (Dec 18): Shares and warrants in infrastructure group Taliworks Corp Bhd rose today after Pengurusan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd (Air Selangor) said it will call for tenders for the first phase of the Rasau water treatment plant valued at about RM4 billion next year.

Taliworks rose as much as 10.5 sen or 13.04% to 91 sen this morning. At 10.59 am, it had pared some gains at 87.5 sen, still up by seven sen or 8.7%.

Meanwhile, its warrant TALIWRK-CF soared as much as seven sen or 280% to 9.5 sen. At 10.59am, it had pared some gains at seven sen, still up by 4.5 sen or 180%.

The warrant, among the most actively traded stocks, saw 62.86 million shares traded.

Air Selangor chief executive officer (CEO) Suhaimi Kamaralzaman said yesterday the first phase of the water treatment plant involves the construction of a 700 million litres a day (MLD) treatment plant, while the second phase, doubling the capacity to 1,400 MLD, would cost an additional RM2 billion, with the work estimated to be completed by 2024.

“It will be [done in a few] packages. There is a treatment plant package, there is a distribution package, there is a pump house ... a few packages. It hasn’t been finalised. It will not be a single award. It will be multiple awards,” he said.

Among the public listed companies with expertise in water treatment plants are Salcon Bhd, Taliworks, and Selangor State government-controlled Kumpulan Perangsang Selangor Bhd (KPS).
