Four employees at Karyon's plastic and industrial chemicals unit test positive for Covid-19

KUALA LUMPUR (Jan 19): Four employees at Karyon Industries Bhd's wholly-owned plastic additives and industrial chemicals unit have tested positive for Covid-19.

In a bourse filing, the group said the four production workers employed at Allbright Industries (M) Sdn Bhd had tested positive.

The workers are currently receiving medical treatment at designated government facilities, as directed by the Ministry of Health (MoH), it noted. 

The group added that all employees working at the affected manufacturing facilities are being placed under quarantine and will undergo subsequent screening.  

“The affected manufacturing facilities areas are currently temporarily closed to carry out disinfection and sanitization procedures. The manufacturing facilities will remain close until further notice and as advised by MoH.

“The company will continue to adhere to the standard operating procedures as directed by the MoH and to undertake precautionary and preventive measures for Covid-19 as well as to ensure that all employees are provided a safe and healthy working environment,” Karyon said.

At this point of time, Karyon said it was unable to quantify the financial impact arising from the temporary closure of the manufacturing facilities.

Shares in Karyon finished unchanged at 21 sen apiece, valuing it at RM99.90 million. It saw 890,100 shares done.
