Jaycorp temporarily shuts down JV ops at Batu Pahat for 10 days as 28 workers test positive for Covid-19

KUALA LUMPUR (March 3): Furniture maker Jaycorp Bhd has announced that it has voluntarily decided to halt operations at its 60%-owned joint-venture company Honsoar Jaycorp Cabinetry Sdn Bhd (HJCSB) for 10 days for sanitisation purposes.

This was after 28 employees were tested positive for Covid-19, from 137 employees screened in Kawasan Perindustrian Sri Gading, Batu Pahat, Johor, according to its filing with Bursa Malaysia today.

This is the second time the company has conducted an RTK-Antigen Test for its entire workforce. Those that tested positive have been quarantined in the premises approved by the Ministry of Health (MoH) officials, said Jaycorp.

Jaycorp said its management does not expect any material impact to its financial performance.

Aside from its furniture division, Jaycorp also has interests in kiln-drying, the manufacturing of carton boxes as well as engineering and construction.

Shares of Jaycorp closed two sen or 1.2% higher at RM1.68 today, valuing the company at RM225.9 million. Over the past year, the counter has risen some 68% from RM1.
