Mixed response from renewable energy-related players to news of LSS4 award

KUALA LUMPUR (March 8): Shares in renewable energy-related players have reacted differently to news of the potential award of the fourth cycle of the large-scale solar programme (LSS4) as early as this week.

Cypark Resources Bhd, Solarvest Holdings Bhd and Pimpinan Ehsan Bhd saw their share prices rise this morning, while Minetech Resources Bhd, Mega First Corporation Bhd and Tek Seng Holdings Bhd did not react to the news.

At 11.44am, Cypark climbed three sen or 2% to RM1.53; Solarvest advanced six sen or 2.31% to RM2.66; Pimpinan Ehsan grew one sen or 0.53% to RM1.88.

Mega First, Tek Seng and Minetech, however, were unchanged at RM7.42, 60 sen, and 20.5 sen respectively.

The Edge weekly, citing sources, reported that the LSS4 award is expected to be announced as early as this week.

The LSS4, which has a total electricity generation capacity of 1GW or 1,000 MW, scheduled to be realised by 2023, is the largest capacity offered under the LSS programme so far.

For comparison, LSS3 has a capacity of 500 MW; LSS1 and LSS2 have combined capacities of 958 MW.
