PUTRAJAYA (April 8): The Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) will commence a Public Inquiry on the proposal for revised Mandatory Standards for Quality of Service (MSQoS) related to telecommunication services and introduce a new MSQoS for telco customer service.

MCMC in a statement today said the MSQoS are the (new) Customer Service, Wireless Broadband, Wired Broadband and Public Cellular Service.

It said the public inquiry was aimed at collecting the views of the public and all stakeholders on the proposed new standards related to the services involved to replace the existing MSQoS.

"MCMC believes that new MSQoS with higher minimum standards should be introduced to adapt to the latest technological developments, customer needs and the country's strategic direction towards future development in line with the Malaysia Digital Economy Blueprint and the MyDigital initiative," it said.

The public and all stakeholders can provide their feedback on its official website at www.mcmc.gov.my starting today until June 4 and MCMC will consider all views to support or to amend the proposed MSQoS.

MSQoS is one of the key regulatory instruments under the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 that has been established to protect consumers in Malaysia in terms of quality of service.

MCMC monitors and regulates the implementation of the quality of service of all relevant service providers and enforcement action will be taken towards any failure to comply to the standards.
