KUALA LUMPUR (May 19): Industrial adhesive specialist Techbond Group Bhd is temporarily closing its factories in Kota Kemuning, Shah Alam, for a week from tomorrow (May 20) until May 26, after seven of its factory workers tested positive for Covid-19.

In a filing exchange today, the group said it had voluntarily conducted Covid-19 screening on all its employees and discovered several positive cases among them in the Shah Alam factories.

“In an immediate response, employees who have had close contact with the infected workers will also be placed under quarantine and isolation and will undergo subsequent screenings. The company has carried out deep cleaning and disinfecting exercises on the whole premises and dormitories," it said.

It also assured that its operations in Johor and Sabah, as well as those in Vietnam, are unaffected and are operating as usual.

It also said the temporary closure of its Shah Alam factories is not expected to have any significant impact on its operations and financial performance at this juncture.

“We will continue to monitor the situation closely and provide updates as new information becomes available,” it added.

Techbond shares closed two sen or 4.17% lower at 46 sen today, giving it a market capitalisation of RM243.52 million.
