Yam Kong Choy and Ho Heng Chuan resign as Cahya Mata directors
KUALA LUMPUR (June 21): Cahya Mata Sarawak Bhd (CMS) said Datuk Seri Yam Kong Choy and Ho Heng Chuan have resigned as directors of the group, effective today.
Yam, 67, had served as a non-independent and non-executive director, while Ho, 64, was an independent and non-executive director.
Both resigned due to their "other personal commitment", according to the group's filings with Bursa Malaysia.
Yam is the most recent past president and patron of the Real Estate and Housing Developers’ Association of Malaysia (REHDA). Previously, he was the chief executive officer of Country Heights Holdings Bhd in 1996, as well as Sunrise Bhd from 1997 to 2008.
He is also the father-in-law of the group’s chief operating officer Mok Chek Wei.
Meanwhile, Ho commenced his career with Messrs KPMG in 1977 as an auditor, before moving on to the banking industry.
He held senior positions in AmMerchant Bank Berhad, Arab-Malaysian Merchant Bank (1981 - 1997), Macquarie Bank Ltd (1998 - 2000) and Citi Malaysia (2000 - June 2020).
Shares of CMS settled three sen or 2.13% lower at RM1.38 today, giving the group a market capitalisation of RM1.48 billion.
