KUALA LUMPUR (June 28): Plastic product maker Ralco Corp Bhd said today it is implementing a temporary stoppage for its manufacturing facility in Nilai, Seremban until July 3 after the company discovered several positive cases of Covid-19 infection among its factory workers.

The group said in a bourse filing that it had been conducting Covid-19 screening tests for both of its local and foreign workers at all of its factories, and the affected employees are currently receiving medical treatment at government healthcare facilities as per the directive of the Ministry of Health (MoH). It added that all employees on the affected plant premises are placed under self-quarantine.

It also said that the affected plant premises are temporarily closed to carry out disinfection and sanitisation procedures, and expected to resume operations in stages from July 4.

“As a result of the temporary closure of the affected plant premises, the capacity loss is estimated to be immaterial to the total annual output volume. Other production facilities at different locations are operating normally,” it said.

“Ralco is cooperating and working closely with the MoH. We will continue to adhere to the Covid-19 preventive standard operating procedures (SOPs) on a stringent basis,” it added.

It also said disinfection exercises at all of the group’s premises and workers' accommodation will continue to be conducted regularly, with all the necessary precautionary measures strictly in place to fight against the Covid-19 pandemic.

“The safety and well-being of our employees and local communities are of our utmost priority towards containing the situation, and the temporary closure will go a long way towards minimising the risk of further spreading of the Covid-19 virus within the community,” it said.

Ralco was last traded at RM1.11, valuing the group at RM56.39 million.
