KUALA LUMPUR (July 1): Power Root Bhd said it has temporarily halted operations at its plant in Johor to conduct sanitisation work to prevent the spread of Covid-19.

The move is expected to result in the deferment of shipment to its export customers, it said in a bourse filing.

The group said its wholly-owned subsidiary Power Root (M) Sdn Bhd was instructed by the Health Ministry to temporarily suspend its operations  at its factory located in Taman Perindustrian Plentong in Masai.

The factory is expected to resume its operations in stages on July 7 or earlier, subject to approval from the relevant authorities, it said.

Power Root added that it is conducting Covid-19 tests for workers who had been in close contact with those who were tested positive for the virus via contact tracing. It did not mention the number of workers involved.

The group said it is also implementing quarantine measures for the affected workers and close contacts in the quarantine facility.

Power Root said the costs for Covid-19 tests, quarantine measures and disinfection processes will not have a material impact on the group’s financial performance.

As the group would utilize outstanding stocks to fulfil sales orders, the group does not foresee any major disruption to market supply.

Power Root’s share price closed 2 sen or 1.52% higher at RM1.34 today, valuing the group at RM567.48 million.
