Glove stocks under pressure, Top Glove sinks below RM4 level
KUALA LUMPUR (July 5): Vaccines have been rolled out but there is also a fresh wave of infections globally — still Top Glove Corp Bhd is heading down.
Top Glove shares dipped as much as 1.99% or eight sen to RM3.93 — the lowest since May last year — before paring some losses to settle at RM3.95 at 5pm.
At the current price, it had a market capitalisation of RM32.42 billion. There were 22 million shares traded.
Its peers were also not spared from the sell-down, with Hartalega Holdings Bhd closing lower at RM7.01, after dropping 0.14% or one sen, for a market capitalisation of RM24.03 billion.
Supermax Corp Bhd went down 3.72% or 12 sen to close at RM3.11; Kossan Rubber Industries Bhd closed down 0.32% or one sen to RM3.07.
The selling interest spilled over to the smaller cap glove counters. Rubberex Corp (M) Bhd closed down 2.92% or 2.5 sen at 83 sen; Comfort Gloves Bhd fell 3.54% or seven sen to settle at RM1.91; and Careplus Group Bhd sank 1.21% or two sen to end at RM1.63.
