KUALA LUMPUR (July 30): Amanah Ikhtiar Malaysia (AIM) has extended the automatic loan repayment moratorium offered to all Sahabat AIM (borrowers) from Aug 1 to 31.

Its executive chairman Datuk Seri Lajim Ukin said in total, AIM had given a 12-week or three months' loan repayment moratorium to Sahabat AIM, beginning from the implementation of the Movement Control Order 3.0 which came into effect from June 1.

“The moratorium which involves a total value of RM577.3 million or RM192.2 million a month will benefit 378,507 Sahabat AIM nationwide,” he said in a statement today.

However, Lajim said borrowers who want to repay their loans during the moratorium period can still do using cashless payment methods such as CMCCS or online banking.

Meanwhile, he said all AIM central meetings have been postponed and a new circular on the matter would be issued by taking into account the new normal practice to prevent the spread of Covid-19 among staff and Sahabat AIM.

Lajim also said that AIM would close all its branches nationwide, including its training centres in Taiping, Perak, Sabah and Sarawak until Aug 31 due to the current Covid-19 pandemic situation.

However, he said AIM regional offices and headquarters would continue to operate in accordance with the standard operating procedures issued by the National Security Council.
