KUALA LUMPUR: ROVR, the mobile refuelling service from Petronas Dagangan Bhd (PDB), has launched its first mini portable container system (mini PCS).

The mini PCS, in collaboration with the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs, aims to provide the community in Kampung Limbawang, Beaufort in Sabah with easier access to fuel.

In a statement yesterday, PDB said the mini PCS was designed to serve remote areas located 10km or more away from a petrol station.

This is part of ROVR's rural development plan and the ministry's community drumming programme which aims to ensure communities in rural areas have access to sufficient basic necessities at the same prices as in urban areas.

Its minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi said the initiative augured well with the ministry's mission of increasing reach via its community drumming efforts through a systematic, safe and community-empowered way since the mini PCS was operated by a local.

Since the pilot phase in late November, the 5,000-litre mini PCS, which operates daily from 7am to 7pm, has served close to 3,500 vehicles and dispensed over 30,000 litres to date.

PDB plans to expand the initiative to more remote areas within Sabah and Sarawak with potential sites being as far as 50 kilometres away from a petrol station.

PDB managing director and chief executive officer Azrul Omar said the innovative solution marked a milestone in the company's effort to ensure energy accessibility that is crucial to fuel social and economic growth.

"Furthermore, ROVR has proven to be pivotal during crises, serving restricted areas under the EMCO and flood-hit areas. Today's launch further validates our strategy to provide solid business solutions that also serve community needs and is fully aligned with our promise to make your life simpler and better," he added.

Currently, ROVR serves businesses in the Klang Valley, Kuantan and Johor by offering direct delivery of fuel.
