KUALA LUMPUR: VisDynamics Holdings Bhd (VHB) will continue to focus heavily on research and development (R&D) activities to enhance its current products range this year.

In addition, the company will continue to explore new markets and business opportunities for new products and services to expand its customer base.

Chairman Vincent Loh said as a high technology business, the company aims to deliver innovative machines and services to be the industry's top equipment solution providers.

"Despite the challenges posed by the pandemic and movement restrictions, the company has operated efficiently within the country and externally as most of our customers are based overseas," he said in the VHB annual report filed to Bursa Malaysia.

Based in Malacca, VHB provides technical research and solutions involving the design, software development, assembly and installation of automated test equipment for the semiconductor industry.

Loh said despite the supply constraints from the global semiconductor chip shortage, industry players remain optimistic because consumer demand is surging as demand for chips increases across all industries.

He said the growth in 5G smartphones andnconsumer electronics devices usage, driven by remote working arrangements during the pandemic, is limited only by the number of components that can be supplied.

The automotive and electric vehicle (EV) sectors have also seen an increase semiconductor content while experiencing a recovery trend.

"Hence, the current supply shortage would only present a temporary setback as these sectors are set for further growth in the long term.

"Thus, looking forward to the new financial year and beyond, we hope to continue benefitting from the global structural growth in chip demand alongside the ongoing acceleration in digitalisation and proliferation of secular technology trends such as 5G, artificial intelligence, cloud computing, Internet of Things (IoT), robotics and vehicle electrification," he said.

VHB generated revenue of RM47.881 million for the financial year ended 31 October 2021 (FY21), an increase of RM21.61 million or 82 per cent from FY20 attributed to the rise in the sales of machines.

Overall net profit for FY21 was RM9.60 million as compared to RM2.44 million for FY20.

VHB's key markets continue to be driven by customers located mainly in North Asia that has contributed about 78.18 per cent of the total revenue for FY21, and South East Asia, excluding Malaysia, which contributed 14.31 per cent of the total revenue of FY20.
