Nik Ibrahim Kamil retires as Westports director

KUALA LUMPUR (April 15): After 28 years on Westports Holdings Bhd's board of directors, Tan Sri Nik Ibrahim Kamil Nik Ahmad Kamil, 79, is retiring from the board as an independent and non-executive director.

His retirement, effective Friday (April 15), was announced by the marine cargo handling group in a bourse filing on the same day.

According to the group's latest annual report, Nik Ibrahim Kamil was appointed director of the company in 1994, and was redesignated as an independent and non-executive director on April 8, 2013. On Feb 6, 2018, he was redesignated as senior independent non-executive director.

Nik Ibrahim Kamil was once the managing director of the New Straits Times Press (M) Bhd. Besides that, he was chairman of OCB Bhd until Dec 31, 2021. He also previously chaired Octagon Consolidated Bhd and QSR Brands Bhd, besides being an independent non-executive director of Camerlin Group Bhd.

Shares in Westport went up one sen or 0.25% to close at RM4.00 on Friday, giving the group a market capitalisation of RM13.64 billion.
