Limit-down counters including Rapid Synergy, YNH Property, SCIB emerge as top turnover stocks in morning trade

KUALA LUMPUR (Jan 23): Rapid Synergy Bhd, YNH Property Bhd and Sarawak Consolidated Industries Bhd (SCIB) emerged as top turnover stocks on Bursa Malaysia at Tuesday's noon break, as other battered stocks regained their footing after hitting limit-down over the past two weeks.

The gains notched by said counters were in line with the advance seen on the broader market. At midday break, the FBM Small Cap Index was up by 0.42% while the FBM Ace Market Index rose 0.34%. The FBM KLCI also recorded an increase of 0.41%.

After Tuesday’s morning trade session, Rapid Synergy Bhd emerged as Bursa’s top turnover stock as its share price rose by 34 sen or 17.4% to RM2.29. Subsequently, the group saw an increase of RM36.4 million in paper gains with its market capitalisation standing at RM244.8 million.

The counter recorded a five-year-high trading volume, with 96.4 million shares changing hands within four trading hours. In comparison, the stock was barely traded, with a cumulative volume of 6.9 million shares, since the beginning of the selling pressure on Jan 9.

YNH Property Bhd was the second-top turnover stock as its share price shot up 22 sen or 39.6%, leading to RM116.3 million in paper gains. The counter was among the most active stocks on Bursa Malaysia with a trading volume of 168.6 million shares, continuing its momentum after touching limit-down and hitting its all-time high of 218.95 million shares on Monday.

At 77.5 sen per share, the group, which is linked to prominent investor Datuk Dr Yu Kuan Chon, was valued at RM409.6 million.

SCIB, on the other hand, continued to pare losses with its share price up five sen or 11.5% at Tuesday's noon break. It came third in the top turnover counter with a trading volume of 195.7 million shares and saw RM32 million in paper gains. At 48.5 sen, SCIB is valued at RM310.5 million. Just Monday, the counter rebounded 14.5 sen, having hit limit-down last week.

Notably, Jentayu Sustainables Bhd, which was also among casualties of the heavy selling pressure last week, emerged among the top gainers and pared some of its losses as its share price increased 26 sen or 47.7% at Tuesday’s noon break. Its market capitalisation increased by RM114.1 million to RM353.4 million, with 35.3 million shares changing hands.

Other adversely impacted counters that were among the gainers at midday break included Silver Ridge Bhd (up 9.5 sen to 48 sen), Artroniq Bhd (up seven sen to 39.5 sen), Mercury Securities Bhd (up four sen to 51 sen), Heitech Padu Bhd (up two sen to 91 sen), and Tanco Holdings Bhd (up half a sen to 49.5 sen).

Notably, Widad Group Bhd was the most actively traded stock with a trading volume of 304.9 million shares. Artroniq was also among Bursa’s most active stocks with 58.4 million shares changing hands.
