UUM goes cashless with kiplePay

PETALING JAYA: Communication and technology services company Green Packet Bhd has taken its mobile payment solution to Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) to enable the latter’s 20,000 population to go cashless.

UUM has signed a strategic collaboration with kiplePay Sdn Bhd, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Green Packet, to make UUM in Sintok, Kedah, the first cashless campus.

kiplePay is a licensed Bank Negara e-wallet issuer that operates a cashless payment gateway for businesses and an e-wallet for consumers.

In a joint press release by UUM and kiplePay, it was revealed that under the unified cash system they now have, the UUM community made up of more than 20,000 students, lecturers and staff, will be able to perform various transactions on the mobile payment system such as those involving in-campus retail stores, zakat fund disbursements, facilities booking and payment of university fees.
