PIAM announces board of directors for 2020-2022 term

KUALA LUMPUR (July 2): The General Insurance Association of Malaysia (PIAM) has appointed a 10-member board of directors for the 2020-2022 term at its Annual General Meeting (AGM).

In a statement today, PIAM said AIG Malaysia Insurance Bhd chief executive officer (CEO) Antony Lee was elected as the chairman of the board for a two-year term while Great Eastern General Insurance (Malaysia) Bhd CEO Ng Kok Kheng was elected as deputy chairman.

It said seven CEOs of member companies were elected as non-independent directors, namely Allianz General Insurance Company (Malaysia) Bhd’s Zakri Mohd Khir, Chubb Insurance Malaysia Bhd’s Steve Crouch, Malaysian Reinsurance Bhd’s Zainudin Ishak, Pacific and Orient Insurance Co Bhd’s Noor Muzir Mohamed Kassim, QBE Insurance (Malaysia) Bhd’s Chris Kurinsky, RHB Insurance Bhd’s Kong Shu Yin and Tune Insurance Malaysia Bhd’s William Foo.

Bank Negara Malaysia’s former director of consumer and market conduct department, Jeremy Lee Eng Huat was elected as an independent director.

Meanwhile, newly-elected chairman Lee said the world has been transformed following the unprecedented effects of the Covid-19 pandemic.

“Moving forward, PIAM will need to respond to the rapidly changing needs and challenges faced by the industry with greater speed and agility,” he added.
