The Board of Directors of PLS Plantations Berhad (“PLS” or “the Company”) wishes to announce that the Company, together with its subsidiary Aramijaya Agri & Agro Sdn. Bhd. (“AAA”), had on 6 February 2026 entered into a Joint Research Agreement (“JRA”) with Nippon Paper Industries Co. Ltd. (“NPI”) and Nippon Paper Lumber Co. Ltd. (“NPL”) (collectively, the “Nippon Paper Group”).

The JRA sets out the detailed scope, methodology and implementation plan for the research and technical guidance to be provided by the Nippon Paper Group to PLS and AAA pursuant to the Strategic Partnership Agreement dated 6 February 2026. Under the JRA, the Parties will jointly carry out research, field trials, nursery development and plantation related technical studies to support feasibility assessment of a potential large-scale eucalyptus plantation programme in Malaysia.

The Joint Research and development activities will be undertaken primarily at the pilot site in Johor operated by AAA. Under the JRA, the Nippon Paper Group will provide technical expertise and advisory support, while PLS and/or AAA will provide land areas, nursery facilities, field operations, manpower and on-site implementation resources.

The findings and outcomes of the Joint Research will assist the Parties in evaluating the technical viability and long-term commercial potential of establishing a large-scale eucalyptus plantation programme in Malaysia.
