The Board of Directors (“the Board”) of Ge-Shen Corporation Berhad (“the Company”) wishes to announce that one of our wholly-owned subsidiaries, Polyplas Sdn. Bhd. (“Polyplas”) received an official notice from Ministry of Health ("MOH") on 4 August 2021 with instructions under the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Act 1988, to suspend its operation from 8:00 p.m. on 4 August 2021 for sanitisation and to break the chain of COVID-19 infections. The closure shall be for a few days, until such period it is deemed safe to resume operations.

The Company and its subsidiaries (“the Group”), including Polyplas, has adopted all possible and necessary standard operating procedures (“SOPs”) at its operations, premises which include social distancing measures, temperature checks, proper hygiene, Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) usage, regular sanitisation, restricting visits by outsiders etc. and shall be stepping up efforts for sanitisation and enforcement of SOPs.

Impact on operations

The temporary cessation of business of Polyplas is expected to result in delay of deliveries for several orders to its customers. The Management is currently in discussion with the affected customers for the rescheduling of the delivery dates for those orders and expects that there will not be any adverse impact to the Group.

The Group expects to reschedule and replan to recover its production backlogs upon re-commencement of manufacturing activities.

Impact on financial performance

The Group does not expect any material impact to its financial performance.

Barring any prolonged interruptions or closure of operation of the factory, the Board does not expect any material adverse impact on the revenue or the earnings of the Group for the financial year ending 31 December 2021. All our other facilities are operating according to permissible regulations.
