| Working experience and occupation | Dato Mohamed Suffian bin Awang obtained his Diploma in Public Administration and Bachelor of Law Degree from Universiti Teknologi Mara Shah Alam in 1992 and 1996 respectively. He has 14 years of legal practice and 6 years of civil service working experience. He was also the Political Secretary to the former Prime Minister of Malaysia and a former Special Officer to Malaysian Special Envoy (Ministerial Rank) to United States of America from 2013 to 2015. Currently, he is the Non-executive Chairman of PECCA Group Berhad, a position he has held since 2014 and also the present Chairman for the Maritime Institute of Malaysia (MIMA). Dato' Mohamed Suffian bin Awang was appointed as an Independent Non-Executive Chairman of the Company on 28 January 2022. Article 100 of the Company's Constitution states that every director appointed shall hold office only until the conclusion of the next annual general meeting unless is re-elected. As the appointment of Dato' Mohamed Suffian bin Awang only took place after the notice of the 20th Annual General Meeting ("20th AGM") was sent out to the shareholders, his re-election as director was not in the Agenda of the 20th AGM. Thus, pursuant to the operation of Article 100 of the Company's Constitution, Dato' Mohamed Suffian has accordingly retired at the conclusion of the 20th AGM held on 25 February 2022. The Board of Directors has passed a resolution to re-appoint Dato' Mohamed Suffin as an Independent Non-Executive Chairman of the Company immediately after the conclusion of the 20th AGM. |
