Bursa Malaysia rebounded from two consecutive days of declines to close higher on Thursday, spurred by bargain-hunting activities amid the recent market sell-off.

Bursa Malaysia ended the morning trading session in positive territory on Thursday, lifted by continued buying support for selected heavyweights. At 12.30pm, the FBM KLCI had risen by 3.75 points to 1,539.54, from Wednesday’s close at 1,535.79.

Bursa Malaysia continued to decline to close lower for a second consecutive day on Wednesday in lacklustre trading as investors took profits after the recent rally against the backdrop of significant data releases and economic meetings this week, a dealer said.

Bursa Malaysia remained lower at midday on Wednesday on cautious trading ahead of the overnight policy rate (OPR) announcement on Thursday while the market awaits new developments in China and the US, dealers said.

回顾2月，国家银行公布，大马2023年末季国内生产总值成长3％，表现逊于市场预期，也低于统计局早前预估的3.4％，然而马股在外资持续净买入的情况下，重新站上1550点水平，并一度涨至1559.02点，为20个月以来的高点。

Bursa Malaysia continued its downward momentum at midday on Wednesday, due to persistent selling of selected heavyweights led by the utilities sector.  The market was also weighed down by regional markets’ downbeat performance.

The FBM KLCI charted a fresh 20-month high at midday on Tuesday while Malaysian energy shares surged and plantation stocks also rose. At 12.30pm, the country's benchmark index gained 0.52% or 8.04 points to 1,546.65, its highest since June 3, 2022.

The benchmark FBM KLCI reversed earlier losses in the mid-morning on Tuesday, as index-linked plantation counters lifted sentiments. At 10am, the FBM KLCI had added 0.15% or 2.28 points to 1,540.89. The index earlier dipped to a low of 1,537.94.
