KUALA LUMPUR (Sept 4): JKG Land Bhd on Saturday (Sept 3) announced new tenants of its mixed-use development — The ERA @ Duta North — located along Jalan Segambut, Kuala Lumpur.

The boutique retail boulevard component of The ERA is known as RainTreeRain. It has a retail area of 277,000 sq ft spread over three levels.

In Saturday's signing ceremony between JKG Central Park Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary of JKG Land, and six retail partners, the developer welcomed the home-grown grocer brand — The Food Merchant — to be RainTreeRain's anchor tenant. Other notable retail partners that attended the ceremony were Dai Cha Dim, A Plus Medical Clinic, LN Fortunate Coffee, Salad Atelier and Herbal Tea.

"We are very thrilled to welcome our panel of new retail partners to RainTreeRain and we believe the residents will enjoy the offerings by these retailers. This is just the beginning of our goal to elevate the retail landscape and inspire a bold rejuvenation to Jalan Segambut's dated industrial neighbourhood," said JKG Land managing director Datuk Teh Kean Ming during his welcome speech held at The ERA's sales gallery.

With the arrival of The Food Merchant at RainTreeRain as the anchor tenant, Teh is positive that the residents of The ERA and in the vicinity shall experience a breath of fresh air while being able to discover global cultures in grocery shopping.

The owner of The Food Merchant is Global Food Merchant Holdings Sdn Bhd. Its managing director, Ivan Tan, has years of experience as his family members brought success to the Village Grocer chain with over 25 years of industry experience.

According to Tan, the outlet at RainTreeRain will be The Food Merchant's fifth outlet in the nation. It will occupy 25,000 sq ft of the lower ground floor of RainTreeRain and is expected to open its doors by the end of this year.

Developed over three phases, the 14.8-acre The ERA was first introduced in 2017. A total of 921 serviced apartment units, which were the first phase, were handed over to buyers earlier this year.

Meanwhile, the second phase was opened for sale in January this year, offering 956 serviced apartments with built-up sizes ranging from 654 to 1,334 sq ft and selling price starting from RM490,900.
