JOHOR BAHRU (April 18): KPJ Bandar Dato’ Onn Specialist Hospital has signed a strategic cooperation agreement with real estate developer, Johor Land (JLand), involving the development of an all-modern housing community complete with special features, including emergency medical functions.

Regional chief executive officer, KPJ Southern Region Hospitals, Mohd Azhar Abdullah said the collaboration would involve a special health package for every purchase of housing unit developed by JLand in Perjiranan 13, Bandar Dato’ Onn, which has a gross development value (GDV) of RM664.5 million.

He said this type of agreement is the first to be implemented by a private medical operator in Johor and is seen as a new benchmark, especially for all the KPJ Hospitals throughout Malaysia.

“Estimated RM2 million worth of investment is involved in this collaboration, where three main elements will be featured from KPJ Bandar Dato’ Onn involving the use of this hospital’s medical facilities, health packages and emergency assistance,” he said in a statement on Tuesday (April 18).

He said the collaboration combined elements of health and technology that are in line with the times and residents of Perjiranan 13 would enjoy at least three added values for every purchase of housing unit in the area.

“Among the interesting functions we like to feature is that each housing unit in Perjiranan 13 will be equipped with a panic button that can be accessed from a mobile phone.

“In the event of an emergency, the homeowner will be given exclusive treatment, including ambulance services directly,” he said.

Mohd Azhar said the units would also be equipped with a health package that would allow the owner to receive a full health checkup every year for three years with the cost having already been paid during the house purchase.

He said this was part of KPJ’s intention to be part of creating a residential area that is developed with a complete concept, including medical facilities, and the Covid-19 pandemic should be a warning to the community to be sensitive.

“This health screening service includes offering blood tests, heart examinations and also consultations with specialist doctors only from their home units,” he said.

Meanwhile, JLand director-in-charge Zamri Yusof said the development of residential-type properties in Perjiranan 13 covered four phases with Phase 1 having 211 units of two-storey terrace residential houses expected to be launched in July this year.

He said the development of this residential and commercial property on approximately 27.19ha is expected to be fully completed within the next six years.
