PJD Link Expressway concessionaire raises RM922m to fund expressway

KUALA LUMPUR: PJD Link (M) Sdn Bhd (PJD Link) has secured funding amounting to RM922.0 million for its project financing required for the proposed Petaling Jaya Dispersal Link (PJD Link Expressway) from MCC Overseas (M) Sdn Bhd (MCC Malaysia).

MCC Malaysia is a subsidiary of China Metallurgical Group Corporation, a large construction group conlomerate listed on the Shanghai and Hong Kong stock exchanges.

PJD Link chief executive officer Amrish Hari Narayanan said the company is moving forward with the remaining phases of project finance that includes raising the remaining portion of the project via the sukuk market."The capacity to finance the project is one of the Conditions Precedent under the Concession Agreement, in addition to obtaining approvals for the Social, Environmental and Traffic Impact reports," he added.

On 5 April last year, PJD Link signed a concession agreement with the Malaysian government.

PJD Link signed a Heads of Agreement (HoA) with MCC Malaysia, during the 14th International Infrastructure Investment and Construction Forum (IIICF) in Macau on 1 June, 2023.The signing was witnessed by the MCC International Incorporation Ltd. president Yang Roubing, the Macau SAR Government, key members of the China International Contractors Association and Scomi Energy Services Bhd chief executive officer Amirul Baharom.Under the agreement, MCC Malaysia carries the responsibility of Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) contractor of the PJD Link Expressway.The PJD Link Motorway is a 25.4 kilometer, 2 lane dual carriageway (4 lanes) motorway that would run from the NKVE Toll Plaza on SPRINT Highway in Damansara to the Bukit Jalil Highway Interchange. According to the developer, the project is aimed to improve traffic congestion and cater to future vehicle growth in the Kuala Lumpur and Klang Valley area.However, residents along the alignment have been very vocal against the project citing noise and environmental pollution.
