Pi Data Centre gets RM253.5mil funding for data centre in Cyberjaya

KUALA LUMPUR:Pi Data Centre Sdn Bhd (PiDC) has received RM253.5 million in Tawarruq asset financing facilities from Bank Pembangunan Malaysia Bhd for the development of a Tier III data centre in Cyberjaya, Selangor.

According to Bank Pembangunan group chief executive officer (CEO) Roni Abdulwahab, the bank is pleased to have aided in the building of the data centre as part of Malaysia's digital transformation. 

"This partnership underscores Bank Pembangunan's commitment to delivering impact  capital for national development, and we believe that investments in digital infrastructure are crucial for driving economic growth and enhancing the country's competitiveness on the global stage.

"The PiDC's initiatives align with national strategies such as MyDIGITAL and the New Industrial Master Plan 2030. Through our support, this project will not only pave the way for the development of robust digital infrastructure, but also facilitate the growth of the digital workforce, which will enhance Malaysia's capabilities in digital innovation," he said. 

PiDC CEO Ong Chin Seong said the project underscored sustainability and talent development. 

"We are honoured to partner with Bank Pembangunan in realizing our vision of a world-class data centre that not only meets the highest standards of efficiency and performance but also serves as a catalyst for environmental sustainability and talent development.

PiDC is designed to achieve LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Silver and GreenRe Gold certifications, demonstrating its commitment to eco-friendly practices in design, construction, and operations. 

Additionally, PiDC plans to provide industry training and exposure to students from vocational training institutes and universities, contributing to the development of a skilled workforce and fostering innovation in the digital sector.
