KUALA LUMPUR: Aeon Co (M) Bhd is set to strengthen its foothold in Malaysia's retail sector with the opening of Aeon Mall KL Midtown, scheduled for the fourth quarter of this year.

The new mall forms part of the 75-acre KL Metropolis mixed development, marking Aeon's strategic expansion into the heart of the capital.

With a net lettable area of 367,000 sq ft, Aeon Mall KL Midtown will be integrated with office towers, luxury residences and the five-star Hyatt Regency Kuala Lumpur.

Managing director Tsugutoshi Seiko said the project reflects Aeon's efforts to evolve its retail approach in line with changing consumer expectations and urban development trends.

"Consumers today are increasingly seeking destinations where they can spend quality time, whether through dining, socialising or leisure.

"Beyond retail, we aim to contribute positively to the surrounding community by creating spaces that support daily needs and encourage interaction," he said in a statement.

He added that the mall represents Aeon's first venture within a large-scale integrated development of this nature, marking a significant step in enhancing value for customers, business partners and the wider community.

Aeon Mall KL Midtown will be the company's 28th mall in Malaysia.

The development is expected to enhance retail offerings within KL Metropolis while contributing to a more diverse commercial and lifestyle landscape in Kuala Lumpur.

An AEON supermarket will serve as the anchor tenant, with additional key tenants to be announced progressively as leasing activities advance.
