Mohamad Helmy named as Mohd Bakke successor at Sime Darby Plantation

KUALA LUMPUR: Sime Darby Plantation Bhd (SDP) has named Mohamad Helmy Othman Basha, its chief operating officer (upstream), as potential successor to Tan Sri Mohd Bakke Salleh at the helm.

In his new role, Mohamad Helmy will “understudy” Mohd Bakke who will retire in June next year. This comes following his appointment to post of deputy to the managing director effective Jan 1, 2019.

“The appointment is part of the company’s plan to ensure seamless succession at its top leadership subject to performance appraisal and final approval of the board of directors,” it said in a statement today.

“Apart from assisting the managing director with the overall running of the group, Mohamad Helmy will continue to be responsible over the plantation upstream business,” it said.
