Western Digital to invest RM2.3bil more

This will bring the company’s total investment in Malaysia to nearly RM18bil, said a statement from the Prime Minister’s Office after a meeting between Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin (right) and Western Digital Malaysia group operations chairman Datuk Syed Hussian Aljunid.

PUTRAJAYA: Hard disk drive manufacturer and data storage company Western Digital will invest an additional RM2.3bil to increase its manufacturing capacity in Malaysia.

This will bring the company’s total investment in Malaysia to nearly RM18bil, said a statement from the Prime Minister’s Office after a meeting between Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin (right) and Western Digital Malaysia group operations chairman Datuk Syed Hussian Aljunid.

The new investment will expand the facilities and manufacturing capacities at the company’s operations in Penang and Sarawak, and create more than 2,000 jobs.
