Former Proton group CFO appointed to 7-Eleven board of directors

KUALA LUMPUR (April 13): 7-Eleven Malaysia Holdings Bhd has appointed former Proton Holdings Bhd group chief financial officer (CFO) Dr Mazatul ‘Aini Shahar Abdul Malek Shahar to its board as an independent and non-executive director effective Tuesday (April 12).

In a filing on Tuesday, the convenience store operator said Mazatul 'Aini also holds directorship in TH Heavy Engineering Bhd and IJN Holdings Sdn Bhd.

7-Eleven said she was Proton's group CFO prior to the latter’s merger with Zhejiang Geely Holdings Group Co Ltd, as well as the CFO of Nationwide Express Courier Services Bhd before her stint at Proton.

“Mazatul 'Aini has 26 years of hands-on experience in Islamic banking and finance, fundraising, transforming management, corporate finance and advisory works. She was with Aseambankers Malaysia Bhd and Bank Pembangunan Malaysia Bhd.

“She began her career with Arthur Anderson & Co in 1995 after graduating from the University of Nottingham, the UK,” the group added.
