KUALA LUMPUR: Renewable energy company Jaycorp Bhd's 60 per cent-owned subsidiary, Jaycorp Green Energy Sdn Bhd, has awarded an engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning (EPCC) contract worth RM40.6 million to Wasco Bhd's 60 per cent-owned subsidiary, Wasco Thermal Sdn Bhd.

Wasco Thermal specialises in the design, fabrication, and installation of customised steam boilers powered by biomass waste, oil, and natural gas, as well as energy system projects for both local and international markets.

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia today, Jaycorp said the EPCC contract involves the construction of a new biomass boiler system with a steam generation capacity of 70 tonnes per hour in Pasir Gudang, Johor.

Jaycorp noted that its wholly owned subsidiary has reached full production capacity and is unable to meet the growing demand from both existing and new customers, with total steam demand exceeding 120 tonnes per hour.

"This expansion project will enable Jaycorp Green Energy to significantly enhance its rated biomass steam production capacity to a maximum of 95 tonnes per hour, ensuring a reliable supply to support our customers' growing needs," the company said.

It added that project execution will commence upon acceptance of the EPCC contract, with completion targeted by the financial year 2027.
